A Final Fantasy Style RPG On The Way from Gameloft
We just got done telling you about a slue of Gameloft titles that will soon be in the App Store for the holiday season, but apparently we didn’t cover everything. It’s unclear whether Eternal Legacy will be available before the end of the year, but it will mark Gameloft’s entry into the RPG market and surely draw comparisons to games like Final Fantasy, World of Warcraft, or Phantasy Star II.
The teaser trailer does not reveal a great deal about what to expect from Eternal Legacy, other than giving us a glimpse at some of the characters, voice acting, and possible mission plot lines. Apparently we’ll be in the world of Algoad, where you’ll act as Astrian, the last bastion of defense against the destruction of magic, science, humanity, and nature . . . Or something like that.
It looks to have the hallmarks of any Gameloft title: Excellent graphics, expansive worlds, and striking similarities to things we’ve seen on consoles in the past. It will most likely be an enjoyable RPG, but I continue to ask the same question: Clearly, Gameloft is fully-stocked with skilled programmers, writers, and development money. When will we see something truly original and stop comparing their games to something else? It would seem that’s a goal in the best interest of the developer and their fans.
