Barack Obama, lightsabers, and more in this week’s Hot New Games in the App Store!

Pay any attention to the news these days, and you know that the political race for President is kicking into high gear. Call it a loose connection, but so is the App Store, just like it does every week at this time. This week’s hottest games include a presidential tie-in from Epic Games (Infinity Blade), as well as some other light entertainment offerings. So, need a break from all the dry politics? Take a look below.

Vote!!!

This is out of nowhere in so many ways… After making the biggest of names for themselves with Infinity Blade, Epic Games is ushering voting season in with a game called Vote!!! Presumably, it uses similar gameplay mechanics to Infinity Blade, only you play as Barack Obama and Mitt Romney. Their weapons? Oh you know, stuff like light sabers and hot dogs on skewers. It’s free, so it might just be weird enough to try.

Mikey Shorts

$1.99

Need a platforming fix? Mikey Shorts might be your game. This one is just 99 cents, and it features a whopping 72 levels spread out amongst 5 worlds. For the retro fans out there, this one is worth a second look.

If you’re all played out on Temple Run, then check out this reimagining of the endless runner formula from developer Simutronics. It’s free, and promises a twist on typical runners with the addition of hacking and slashing and collectables.

Like Mikey Shorts, this 99-cent game aims to get more distance out of the iOS platformer genre. One Tap Hero is allegedly set apart by it’s one-button mechanic, but we’ll let you be the judge of whether or not that makes you want to pick up yet another platformer!

Can’t say we know a whole lot about this game from Gala Pocket, but the trailer looks intriguing. Play as a cute little character who uses some sort of matching mechanic to pass levels and acquire friends.

Toybox

Toybox iPhone OS

(4.5 stars with 134 Ratings)

$0.99

Multitaskers take notice—this is your next big challenge. The 99-cent Toybox combines two games into one (a space shooter and a puzzler) and leaves the rest up to you.
