Final Fantasy Dimensions, Walking Dead Ep 2, Bastion, & More Among This Week’s Hot New Games! [Updated]

Final Fantasy Dimensions, Walking Dead Ep 2, Bastion, & More Among This Week’s Hot New Games! [Updated]

Surprise! Final Fantasy Dimensions was released this Friday for Free! But some of you will most definitely complain about the high cost to unlock the full game. If you are done with the episode 1 of Walking Dead, check out what episode 2 of Walking Dead has to offer.

We also have another RPG from Square Enix this week. Bastion from Supergiant Games, Activision Anthology, and a game NOT about apples called Granny Smith look great as well. Trailers and more below.

Final Fantasy Dimensions

If you are a Final Fantasy fanatic like me, you have probably played every game in the series except this one. Final Fantasy Dimensions was originally released in Japan as Final Fantasy Legends: Warriors of Light and Darkness on September of 2010 for a variety of Japan only cell phones. It utilizes a Job Change class system similar to Final Fantasy 5. While the game itself is free, you can only play the prologue without making additional in-app purchases. To unlock the full game, a minimum of $28.99 is required. Alternatively, players can unlock the game chapter by chapter, with $2.99 for the first chapter, and $9.99 per chapter for chapters 2-4.

Walking Dead: The Game Episode 2

Walking Dead: The Game Universal

We loved the first episode of Walking Dead (Read Review). This week, Telltales opened the gates to the second wave of zombie horror on our iPhones and iPads via In-App-Purchase within the original game. Aren’t you thrilled to see those zombies again? Or are you just too afraid to continue.

The World Ends With You

The World Ends with You: Solo Remix for iPad iPad Only

(4.5 stars with 1423 Ratings)

The Nintendo DS players out there might remember The World Ends With You, which originally released back in 2008 and is now bringing its dual-combat system and portrayal of Japanese youth culture to the iOS platform. It looks like Square Enix is aiming high with every aspect of this RPG, including the price ($17.99/$19.99 [HD]).

Bastion for iPad

Bastion iPad Only

(4.5 stars with 14044 Ratings)

Games that have proven themselves on other platforms should automatically get more attention in the App Store—and Bastion is one of those titles. This XBLA/PC original comes to iPad for $4.99, and we hope it retains all of its former glory with a touchscreen twist.

Granny Smith

Granny Smith Universal

(4.5 stars with 8412 Ratings)

The endless runners are becoming pretty endless themselves these days, but a look at the trailer shows that Granny Smith is a unique interpretation. It features a Granny on skates, for one thing, and the visuals and animations are also pretty eye catching. For $1.99, it’s certainly not an instant pass.

What’s this, another endless-style game? Okay, it’s not a runner, more like a driver, but Chillingo will have to really wow us to make it stand out from the pack. It’s free and there are dinosaurs—so that’s something.

Activision Anthology

Activision Anthology Universal

(3.5 stars with 881 Ratings)

45 free games from Activsion? I don’t think so. We’re not sure what kind of in-app purchase scheme Activision is trying, but it may be worth testing if you’re interested in playing the original Pitfall and other classics.

Blast-A-Way Universal

(4.5 stars with 1049 Ratings)

The latest from Illusion Labs looks like nothing we’ve ever seen, and that’s something in these days of copycat apps. It’s $4.99 and is optimized for iPhone and iPad.
