First Looks: EA’s Real Racing 3 and unnamed Unreal Engine game from Gameloft
We had a feeling that the merger of the Firemint and IronMonkey studios would mean good things, and today we’re getting a taste of the first game that will come bearing the “FireMonkeys” label.
It’s Real Racing 3, which doesn’t equate to a shocking new concept or anything, but boy do the screenshots and trailer look like cause for excitement… The game was announced by Rob Murray of Firemonkeys, who, along with blowing us away with the trailer below, stated that Real Racing 3 would feature real-life race tracks such as Leguna Seca. In addition, we can expect to race with vehicles made by Dodge, Porsche, Audi, etc. The awesomeness of all that is compounded when you get a look at the jaw-dropping visuals on the way in Real Racing 3. There’s no question that the merger of the two studios has allowed the developers to blow the roof off what we thought was possible on the platform. After seeing the trailer, it’s safe to say many will be waiting to get their hands on this one.
In other big iOS gaming news, we’re finally getting another hint at what Gameloft has in store with Unreal Engine 3. If you recall, once upon a time the developer told us they’d be delivering as many as four unreal-powered games. The expectation of getting four games has flagged in the time in between, but now we have the below screenshot to whet our appetites… As far as a theme, your guess is as good as ours. But we can all agree that it’ll be a violent, sword-wielding, fantasy world affair—and those are all good things.
So much for slow-news Fridays!
