Gameloft Games Go Free!

To celebrate ten years of gaming goodness, iDevice app giant Gameloft has launched a 10-day free game giveaway this week.  Dubbed the iPhone Happy Hour, the promotion has Gameloft giving away a different title available each day … but only for two hours, and not the same two hours each day.

Gameloft’s giveway runs weekdays for the next two weeks, from May 10 until May 21. Each day, Gameloft is making one game free for two hours. To add an element of suspense to the event, Gameloft isn’t announcing its schedule ahead of time; the only way to know when a game is free is to be following Gameloft on Twitter.  The game is announced via their Twitter feed at the moment it goes free, and users then have two hours to snag the title.

Gameloft’s first two Happy Hours have come and gone, so if you wanted either their licensed racer Ferarri GT Evolution or the wacky Chuck Norris: Bring On the Pain!, you’ll have to pay for them. But that leaves eight days—and eight free games—to go.

Ferrari GT Evolution was the first Happy Hour game. It was free from 1:00-3:00pm EDT on Monday.

Based on the titles released so far, we can probably expect more of Gameloft’s older, second tier of titles instead of their top-shelf fare like N.O.V.A. or HAWX.  But there’s also the chance for a few surprises. With a new Shrek film coming out, SHREK KART could be an interesting giveaway; and making HERO OF SPARTA part of the promotion would be a great way for Gameloft to generate more interest in its impending sequel, HERO OF SPARTA 2.

The only way to know when the iPhone Happy Hour is happening is to follow Gameloft on Twitter. To make sure you know when each game goes free,  you can set Twitter to send you a text message whenever Gameloft tweets. You can set Twitter up for text messages by logging into your account and finding the Mobile options under Settings.

Now, let’s enjoy all these great, free Gameloft games!
