Gmail app for iOS Finally Updated for Notification Center, Alternate senders, and Login Process

Good news for those heavy Gmail users out there. While you might remain satisfied with the default Mail app built into the iOS platform, the official Gmail app Gmail - Google, Inc. has received a pretty big update that should mean better integration and more streamlined communication with your contacts. The update can be broken down into three key features:

Notification Center

Full integration for the Gmail app means that you can now get banners, alerts, and lock screen options all displayed through the Notification Center. This just makes sense, and many would say it’s overdue. Google also points out that notifications are now five times as fast as before.

Alternate Senders

Another no-brainer, wouldn’t you say? The Gmail Blog directs users to the “From:” option for composing new messages that they’d like to have sent from an alternate address.

Login Process

One less frustration is always a good thing. Now you’ll no longer be prompted to log back into your account unless you intentionally sign out beforehand. For most of us, staying logged in will add a lot of convenience, and make the Gmail app seem more appealing.

So will these changes spark some more interest in the Gmail app, or will you continue to get by with the iOS default? Gmail has also promised future updates that will include multiple account support.
