Hot New Games in the App Store! After Burner Climax, Beastie Bay, Roar Rampage, and More
With the Superbowl over, all those football-themed updates to our favorite apps are looking stale and dated, which of course means it’s time to pick up something new. Enter this week’s hottest new releases. It’s a good week for gamers, and below we’ll show you why. Read on for trailers and details.
After Burner Climax
We’re all familiar with the After Burner franchise, but that doesn’t mean we know what to expect from its arrival on iOS… This over-the-top flight sim has tons of potential if it delivers big on its $2.99 price tag.
Kairosoft, the maker of the hit game Dev Story, is releasing their first free game! Beastie Bay plays a little bit like Pokemon mixed with familiar Kairosoft game elements such as building placement and terrain explorations. The free game is ad supported. Players also cannot access the landscape mode without paying a 1-time $4.99 In App Purchase, but there are no additional IAPs. So if you don’t mind the ad, you could finish the entire game without paying a cent!
I always take a closer look at games that offer single-device multiplayer, and Pinwar is one of those. This glowing pinball package costs only $1.99, and will be nice to look at, if nothing else.
Chillingo and physics games—the two are basically synonymous, and this week’s proof is in Be Together. It’s a 99-cent game that includes 60 levels and that typical three-star scoring system. So, if you want another one of those…
Metal Slug 2
Nothing too original here, but if you were a fan of Metal Slug back in the arcade days, maybe you’ll want to drop $3.99 for this iOS version. Price seems a bit steep, but diehard fans might not think so.
Play as a giant green monster as you punch the statue of liberty (according to one screenshot). With cartoony graphics and a 99-cent entry fee, Roar Rampage might be some short-lived casual fun, and maybe more.
