Hot New Games in the App Store this Week! Sonic The Hedgehog 4 – Ep II, Extinction Squad, & More!

We like to think that the App Store has a little something for everyone, and this week’s hot releases are further proof… Whether you’re looking for crazy casual games, a classic like Sonic The Hedgehog 4, or a board game port, it’s all there. With none of the games costing over $10, I’d say it’s time to get shopping.

Sonic The Hedgehog 4 – Episode II

Sonic The Hedgehog 4™ Episode II Universal (Optimized for Both the iPad and iPhone)

$2.99

Apparently Sonic is still as popular as ever, cause they keep getting released… This time things are looking pretty fresh, as Sega is releasing Sonic The Hedgehog 4 Episode II across a plethora of platforms. The iOS universal version will cost $6.99 if you’re interested.

The Adult Swim label carries a lot of weight in the App Store, which should mean a strong start for this action game about rescuing endangered animals. As you’d expect, there’s a lot of ridiculous gore if you fail your job as a zoological defender (99 cents).

Non Flying Soldiers

Universal (Optimized for Both the iPad and iPhone)

I never thought of birds as very fearsome warriors, but Chillingo is challenging that assumption with Non Flying Soldiers. The 99-cent game puts you in charge of a squad of birds that are out to complete deadly obstacle courses as they make their way home.

Scotland Yard

Scotland Yard Universal (Optimized for Both the iPad and iPhone)

(4.5 stars with 816 Ratings)

$4.99

Depending on your age, there’s a good chance you’ve played this classic board game. First released in 1983, it’s long been considered a classic, and now you can get it on your iOS device and enjoy single-player, local multiplayer, and online gameplay.
