Hot New Games in the App Store This Week! , ShadowGun: Deadzone, Real Boxing, Verticus, and more…[Updated]
Thanksgiving is next week, and if you’re one to prepare ahead for extended family time distractions, then look no further than the App Store’s hottest new game offerings. Adults and kids should all find what they’re looking for, so check out the trailers below and get downloading now while there’s still plenty of time before Turkey Day and all its aftermath.
Shadow Gun: Deadzone
SHADOWGUN: DeadZone Universal
(4 stars with 12060 Ratings)
After a short delay earlier this week, Apple has finally approved Shadowgun: Deadzone. From Madfinger, the maker of visually stunning games like Dead Trigger and the original Shadowgun, Deadzone is an online multiplayer incarnation of the original Shadowgun. Join both iOS and Android players around the world together in one arena, play deathmatch and zone control team-style games, and start the massacre. Players start out with only a generic machine gun, but as they score points and earn gold (or purchase IAPs), they can upgrade to new weapons and items to advance their cause. It’s free to try, so give this cool looking online multiplayer shooter a shot.
Real Boxing Universal
(4.5 stars with 9733 Ratings)
If a boxing game could be successful on visuals alone, this one would take the cake… Real Boxing is as visceral and violent as it gets, and we can only hope that the gameplay comes through, too!
(4.5 stars with 1321 Ratings)
Now for something endless… Verticus is a falling game that reportedly comes to us from the mind of Stan Lee. It will have you plummeting toward earth while avoiding obstacles and picking up valuables.
Gear Jack Universal
(4 stars with 90 Ratings)
We always pay attention when Crescent Moon hits the App Store with something new, and Gear Jack looks like a side scroller that could be worth your while. Pick it up for just 99 cents.
(4 stars with 480 Ratings)
Gear Jack isn’t the only side-scroller that wants your dollar this week… Beatdown! From Ravenous Games is a totally retro beat ‘em up that should be perfect for those who don’t care for a slick graphical presentation.
Dream of Pixels
Dream of Pixels Universal
(4.5 stars with 519 Ratings)
Um, is this not upside-down Tetris? The trailer above definitely aims to make Dream of Pixels seem poetic, which maybe it is, but this “beautiful falling blocks puzzle game” is still upside-down Tetris, for what it’s worth.

While Angry Birds just launched its Star Wars makeover, the physics genre of the App Store is still getting inundated with challengers… This one features frogs that have been made atomic by an ill-advised swim in a pool near a nuclear plant.
