In Addition to its Website, Watch the First Episode of Angry Birds Toons from Inside any of the Apps on March 17th
In what we believe to be a first for the App Store, Rovio will leverage its catalogue of Angry Birds apps as the distribution platform for the coming cartoon series. We first heard about the series a few weeks ago, and at the time, it was assumed the cartoons would be a web series—but no, Rovio has bigger and better plans. Instead of making you navigate to a dumb old website, the cartoons will be available from right inside the Angry Birds apps, and all you’ll have to do is tap the “shiny new channel button” that Rovio says will be right on the game’s homescreen.
This method of distribution will probably make for an even more phenomenal showing amongst the younger fans out there. After all, isn’t it a pretty regularly practice for parents to launch an Angry Birds app before handing the iDevice off to a kiddo? There are sure to be many more hours of entertainment available from right inside these apps once all 52 planned episodes have launched… The first of these episodes is titled “Chuck Time,” and it’ll arrive in the apps on March 17th.
If, for some reason, you don’t have any of the Angry Birds apps, you can grab the full version of Angry Birds during this promotional week for free! If you still don’t like to want the cartoon series inside an app, feel free to check out Angry Birds Toons through one of the more traditional distribution methods, including its website. Rovio says they’ll be airing through select video-on-demand providers, including Roku, Comcast, and Xfinity. There are also partnerships in place with the likes of Activision, BlackBerry, Sony Pictures, and more, so this probably won’t be the last you’ll hear about Angry Birds Toons!
