iOS 6 Is Officially Jailbroken, Thanks to Evad3rs Hacking Team
After a lengthy wait, those longing for an iOS 6 jailbreak have finally gotten what they wanted. Thanks to a team of hackers called the evad3rs, all the iPhones, iPads, and iPod Touches out there running Apple’s latest mobile operating system are finally ready to be loosed from their bonds. For those content with their out-of-box devices, this couldn’t matter less. For the rest of us, it’s the best news of the year!
Many of you have been jailbreaking long enough that any directions from us are less than necessary, but for what it’s worth, the evasi0n jailbreak works on any currently released iOS 6 firmware, and you can get it right away via any of the download links… Of course, jailbreaking comes with all the usual warnings, but we’ll save our breath.
This time around, given the long waiting period, iOS 6 users are hitting the jailbreak hard, and word is Cydia is suffering for it. The jailbreak-only App Store was apparently crippled after more than 100,000 evasi0n downloads occurred within about 10 minutes of the jailbreak’s release—with a good portion of those users probably going straight to Cydia for their tweaks and apps… pod2g’s recommendation is simply to wait and try again later. Not what you wanted to hear, but it is what it is.
It should be interesting to see how the jailbreak numbers stack up for iOS 6, and if any noticeable differences occur given the unusual dips in user satisfaction we’ve seen for iPhones as of late… Is a jailbreak just the thing your typical user needs to spice up that aging relationship with an Apple smartphone?
