iTV Rumors get backed by Jefferies. Will the Apple HDTV sell for $1499?

Just yesterday our thoughts about a possible new TV product from Apple shifted towards a revamped Apple TV that’s not that unlike the one that’s currently available. Sure, it would be able to bring live TV to your living room, but it wouldn’t be the full out HDTV set everyone was hoping for… But wait a second, Jefferies’ analyst Peter Misek went further than saying “not so fast,” and instead dropped multiple bombs by stating that as soon as December Apple will release a full HDTV set at a price point of around $1450.

Talk about taking things in a new direction. Got to admit, I like the sound of what Misek has to say a lot more than the idea of a new Apple TV set-top box (who wouldn’t?). Of course, the possibility that we’ll ever see such a unit depends in large part on Apple’s success in working with cable TV operators. Misek says Apple will be partnering with providers like AT&T and Verizon on the HDTV, and he hinted that the rumored set top box might ALSO be a reality through Comcast.

So, this might be the best of both worlds whether you’ve got $1450 to drop on an HDTV or just want an Apple interface behind your live TV in whatever form possible. Are you buying what Misek has to say, or is the idea of Apple striking up new TV deals with Comcast, Verizon, and AT&T too hard to swallow?
