Mark Zuckerberg is now a Viddy user… Is Another Acquisition Coming?
Either there’s a ton of share-worthy stuff going on in Mark Zuckerberg’s life right now, or he’s in the acquisition mood again… Only weeks after spending about $1 billion on Instagram, it appears that the Facebook CEO might now be showing more than a passing interest in Viddy—an app which is best-described as Instagram for video.
The whole “share-worthy” idea is kind of shot down when you take a look at the one video that has been posted by Mark Zuckerberg since he joined Viddy. Going by the user name “zuck,” the social-networking guru decided to show the world his cute little dog named Beast. The video is entitled “Baby Beast,” and it’s probably the only time that a dog flopping around and pretty much doing nothing will garner the user about 2,500 followers and 250 comments.
But of course, it’s not Beast these Viddy users are really interested in—it’s the man behind the dog. After the Instagram deal went down, it later came out that Zuckerberg had been acting as a maverick. He apparently put things together with Instagram-owner Kevin Systrom in just days, and was able to cut back on the $2 billion asking price by 50%… We don’t know anything about the owner(s) of Viddy just yet, but we will soon if and when Facebook makes any big announcements about venturing deeper into the world of video sharing. The future could be very bright for the people at Viddy, especially given more celebrity endorsements and barring any further trouble with Apple.
