Nike+ Running: Popular Running App Free Again for a Limited Time
Like a lot of people, I go through the occasional running kick. I’m not one to lock into a strict routine, but when I get myself to do it, I love having a good method for tracking things like progress, mileage, and calories burned. And while Nike+ GPS certainly isn’t the first app to offer these features, putting the Nike name behind it does seem to promise some quality.
Rather than relying on the sensors used by previous Nike/iPhone collaborations, this app simplifies things by using your phone’s built-in GPS and accelerometer technology. The only thing we have to figure out is how we want to strap the device to our beings before we get sprinting. From my experience, arm bands work just fine, and so do certain types of shorts that have snug pockets. Just make sure your phone is adequately separated from your flesh to prevent it from sopping up sweat and taking on dreaded water damage . . .
But I’ll stop preaching now. Nike+ GPS works with or without a GPS signal, and you can visually track and map each run, receiving voice feedback as you progress. It’s packing lots of other features as well, like integration with social networks, personal challenges, and advice/encouragement from professional athletes and celebrities . . . Sold yet? If you’re anything like me, then a new tool to use in your workout routine may at least serve as enough motivation to lace up those running shoes and make yourself get out there.
