Turning the Tables: We Might Play as the Pigs in the Next Angry Birds Title

Ever wonder what it’s like to have your fortress come tumbling down around you?

Maybe you haven’t wondered exactly that, but we might find out soon enough if the latest rumor surrounding the Angry Birds franchise proves true… Supposedly, Rovio will soon release a game in which we play as the pigs and our goal is to stop the birds’ attacks using the same sort of physics gameplay.

It’s an intriguing idea, but I’m not sure it feels authentic at this point. After reading the paragraphs above, you know as much about it as we do, and so far there is no real reason to believe that Rovio is behind this rumor. After stirring up the gossip, game site Pocket-lint then said that other details are few and far between, and left it at that… Something about this drastic change in protagonist/antagonist match up seems unlikely for Rovio. They’ve spent years investing in the gameplay and trailers that have built up loyalty to the ambitious birds that are out to get vengeance on the apathetic/thieving pigs. So how would it feel—especially for the game’s younger fans—to all of the sudden start targeting our feathered friends?

Oh well, it’s an Angry Birds rumor, so we thought you should know about it. If there’s anything to it, we should know more about this untitled spin-off later this year—possibly around the holidays.
